OKLAHOMA CITY – The ASA Stadium Power Tour is set and ready to roll for the 2015 season as members of the ASA Long Haul Bombers gear up to showcase their titles of the best home run hitters in the world. Announced today by the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) of America/USA Softball, the ASA Long Haul Bombers will stage one-of-a-kind home run derbies at eight Major League Baseball (MLB) ballparks before battling it out for the Manufactures Cup and individual title in the finals.
“We’re excited for another great season of the ASA Stadium Power Tour,” said ASA/USA Softball Executive Director Craig Cress. “The ASA Long Haul Bombers put on a great show each time they step out at the MLB ballparks and demonstrate their world-class talent to fans at each stop. We can’t wait to see how the season plays out as fans follow their journey to the Stadium Power Tour Finals.”
The ASA Long Haul Bombers Stadium Power Tour highlights a collection of the world’s greatest softball home run hitters. Four teams, representing Combat, DeMarini, Easton, Miken, of softball super stars stage one-of-a-kind home run derbies at MLB Stadiums across North America. Each slugger gets 15 swings and a home run is worth one point, except the last pitch, known as the money ball, worth two points and can be the tie-breaker. Six of the eight participants will qualify for the finals of the Stadium Power Tour, scheduled to take place on September 12 at Marlins Park, home of the Miami Marlins, in Miami, Fla.
Last year, the ASA Stadium Power Tour concluded with Team DeMarini sweeping the honors as Chris Larsen was named the world’s greatest home run hitter for the second time in his career, crushing 12 out of the park. Team DeMarini also took home the coveted Manufactures Cup, totaling 23 for the evening. You can find the final results from the 2014 Stadium Power Tour Finals at ASAUSASoftball.com.
“The Stadium Power Tour is entering its 10th season and fans love seeing the massive home runs,” said Team DeMarini’s Chris Larsen (Vancouver, Wash.). “We’re the best in the world at slugging, so get ready! Team DeMarini’s goal this season is to keep the Manufactures Cup where it belongs, with DeMarini.”
