McCraw, Powers and Wegman tie at Great American Ball Park.
July 20, 2012 – Cincinnati, Ohio – The Long Haul Bombers staged a “double header” at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati. The Stadium Power Tour staged a home run derby before and after the Reds & Brewers game. 30,237 fans were treated to some world class show bombs.
Lee Powers of Team Louisville Slugger lead the pre-game show with 11 points, many massive upper deck blasts. Lee’s teammate Tim Cocco sent an official Evil softball out of the ball park, a feat that has only happened a handful of times at Great American Ballpark. Cocco talked to a few fans, who told him they saw the ball splash down in the Ohio River that flows behind center field. “They said it took a hop and then landed in the Ohio River, talking about hitting the sweet spot .“
Team DeMarini, in only their second event of the season, combined for a total of 19 points. Chris Larsen and Kevin “Flip“ Filby are back in the hunt. Larsen feels this is the start of their championship chase. “I know we can do better, and we are ready to challenge Easton for the lead, we have 4 more events, ”Flip” and myself are ready.”
Later in the post game show, Easton’s Brian Wegman and Combat’s Johnny McCraw went head to head. Wegman lives in Cincinnati and was hitting before his home town fans and family. “ I was fired up, the crowd was huge, you could feel the energy, Wegs and McCraw sent show bombs soaring to collect 11 points and tie Powers. A rare 3 way tie, that McCraw said was inspired by the big crowd. “We all saw what Powers did in the pre-game show and we knew it was time to step it up, we drew a lot from the crowd, I was actually a bit nervous.“
