Hermosillo, Mexico November, 9, 2017 – The Long Haul Bombers, the worlds greatest softball home run hitters, traveled to Mexico for a charity home run derby that benefited the Mexican Red Cross.
Hermosillo Mexico was the site and making the trip a fearsome foursome of home run royalty. Chris “Crusher” Larsen for Team Worth, Mike “Bam-zilla” Brambilla for Miken Ryan “D-Train” Dacko and Dan “Big Irish” McClement for Team Monsta.
Larsen, a 2-time champ on the Long Haul Bombers Stadium Power Tour was excited to showcase American home run power. “ The hospitality in Hermosillo has been world class, the people are warm and friendly, the food delicious and we were all amazed at how popular softball in Mexico is.”
The Home Run Derby was staged at a beautiful new minor league park, home of the Naranjeros de Hermosillo and an estimated crowd of 6,238 showed up.
Vinny Castilla, who lives in Hermosillo, was an MLB All-Star with the Colorado Rockies and was quickly impressed with the power of the Long Haul Bombers. “ My oh my, these guys can certainly swing the bat, what an amazing show of brute power they put on.The fans have Mexico have never seen such a show. “
In the home run derby, each of the Long Haul Bombers rose to occasion, sending Dudley Softballs into the Mexican night, with many leaving the park and landing in the desert.
The Home Run Derby was declared a tie, but the real winner was the Mexican Red Cross, with thousands of dollars raised in one night. Softball is popular in Hermosillo, more than 300 teams play at Big League Dream Mexico a world class softball faculty.
