ESPN set to televise the General Tire World Cup of Softball VIII, Border Battle V, and Slow Pitch Showdown
OKLAHOMA CITY — Beginning July 11, the General Tire World Cup of Softball will be telecast around the world across ESPN networks. . Five women’s fast pitch games and two men’s slow pitch games, including the annual Border Battle matchup between USA and Canada and the second annual Slow Pitch Showdown between the USA Men’s National Team and USA Men’s Futures Team, will air on either ESPN or ESPN2.
“We couldn’t be more happy to have the General Tire World Cup of Softball as well as the Border Battle and Slow Pitch Showdown returning to Oklahoma City this summer,” said ASA Executive Director Ron Radigonda. “The World Cup was created to give fans the opportunity to witness the top women’s softball players in the world on an annual basis, and to be able to televise the event worldwide on ESPN networks allows us to achieve that goal. We are thrilled to be working with General Tire again this summer as they have stepped up as the title sponsor. We are grateful for their dedication and support of our sport and its mission.”
The ESPN networks are the exclusive domestic home of the General Tire World Cup of Softball and feature over 14 hours of live coverage including the Championship Game on Sunday, July 14 at 9 p.m. ET. All telecasts will be aired in HD and also available for live streaming via WatchESPN.
“We look forward to once again sharing USA team competition with fans here in the United States and also viewers around the world,” said ESPN Vice President, Programming & Acquisitions, Julie Sobieski.
The games will also be available on ESPN International networks, airing on either ESPN Atlantic, ESPN Israel, ESPN Pac-Rim, ESPN Middle East and North Africa, and ESPN Caribbean depending on the matchup.

Atlanta, GA, June 19, 2013 – Miken’s Denny Crine led off, and never looked back Wednesday night at Turner Field in Atlanta. One after another left his Miken bat for 12 big points. At one point, Crine hit 8 homers in a row and looked unstoppable. “Turner Field is a great park and Atlanta has a great home run tradition starting with Hank Arron, It’s an honor for Miken to be a part of it.”
At 6 foot 6 and 300 pounds Reeboks big man Chris Grienert, stepped up and blasted out 10 points. Reebok team mates Dustin Roberts and Jason Baxter both blasted out 9 before the Braves and Met’s game to score 28 points total.
The Long Haul Bombers are popular in Atlanta. Frank and Cindy Wells, drove up from Macon Georgia to see their home run hero’s. “We are huge fans, we watch the TV show and love to see these guys hit live, they are awesome!“

Team Miken and Reebok ready for a slug fest before the Braves and Mets game Wednesday, June 19th

Arlington, Texas – June 14, 2013 – A hot night at the ballpark in Arlington and the Long Haul Bombers were a big part of the heat wave. Game time temps hit 100 as a big crowd of 40,000 sweated out round 4 of the Stadium Power Tour, after the Rangers and Blue Jays game.
Scott Kirby of Team Easton lead the show, with 11 points and several upper deck blasts. Kirby has a classic home run swing and his Easton bat was up to the test. “I felt good, and glad I was able to help out my team tonight, Easton is in a good spot, as we get into the thick of the Stadium Power Tour season“.
Chris Grieinert of Team Suncoast Reebok used his massive power to send Evil Softball into the upper deck and beyond. At 6′ 6″ and close to 300 pounds, “The Gman“ used his muscle to max out the power from his Reebok Barrage bat.
Next up, the Stadium Power Tour travels to Atlanta and Turner Field on Wednesday, June 19. Team Miken and Reebok hit before the Braves game.

Easton’s Wegman battles back from injury, Reebok in pursuit.
St. Petersburg FL – May 26, 2013 – If this is playing hurt, beware a healthy Brain Wegman. Nursing a sore shoulder, “Wegs” managed to blast out 12 big points to lead the show at the Trop.
Reebok’s Dustin Roberts was close behind with 10, putting on a hitting clinic with his Reebok Barrage bat. Easton’s Brett “The Hitman” Helmer knocked out 10 and Scott Kirby sent out 9 Evil softball souvenirs deep into the yard. Many of the Long Haul Bombers had a chance to hang out with some of the New York Yankee’s, who came out to watch the pre-game show. Injured Yankee outfielder Curtis Granderson – he knows the long ball, “These guy would be tough to pitch to, it’s clear they can slam a softball.”

May 24, 2013 – Round two of the Stadium Power Tour was a double shot, with a pre and post game show at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati. A sellout crowd of 40,000 plus saw big blasts from 10 Long Haul Bombers before and after the Reds & Cubs game.
Chris Larsen from DeMarini lead off and set the bar high, with several upper deck shots and ended the day with 11 points.
Team Reebok had a strong debut as Dustin Roberts and Chris Greinert both blasted 9 points, going deep into the yard with more massive upper deck blasts.Easton’s Brian Wegman, poured on the power, hitting through the pain of a sore shoulder and yet still managed to hit 11. “I see the doctor on Monday, right now it hurts, but playing in front of my hometown and a sellout crowd,I was running on pure emotion.” His Easton team mate Brett Helmer hit 10 points, but is even more impressive when you consider that canceled flights forced “The Hitman” to drive 10 plus hours from New York to Cincinnati, just in time to bat in the post game show.
The last Bomber to bat was Kevin “Flip” Filby of DeMarini. the reigning champ put his Miken bat to good use with 11 points, and a 3 way tie for the event.
