Men’s A
Impressive performances by Tournament MVP Cole Campbell and Home Run Champion Kyle Pearson lifted ASP/KV Weld/BHR to a 33-25 win over T’s 13/DeMarini in the Men’s Class A Championship Game on Sunday. Pearson, who claimed the individual title of Tournament MVP a year ago, had 20 hits out of 29 plate appearances and combined for a team-high 25 RBI. Campbell finished with .778 batting average after going 14-for-18 and tallying 17 RBI in the books.
After dropping a 28-27 decision to T’s 13/DeMarini the evening before, ASP/KV Weld/BHR won 44-19 over POWERHOUSE Sportz/Racks/Monsta which put them in place for a rematch against T’s 13/DeMarini. In the Championship game, ASP/KV Weld/BHR trailed in the first inning, 4-3, but would take the lead in the second, scoring six runs and holding T’s 13/DeMarini to just one. ASP/KV Weld/NHR would manage to score 21 additional runs, including a big sixth inning that saw 12 runs cross the plate. Andrew Collins of ASP/KV Weld/BHR racked up six RBI on three hits, including a double in the sixth inning and home run in the fourth and sixth innings. The two teams combined for 56 runs and 65 hits, including 30 extra base hits. ASP/KV Weld/NHR finished the game and defeated T’s 13/DeMarini, 30-26.
In the next and final game, twenty-four runs in the opening three innings allowed ASP/KV Weld/BHR to easily put away T’s 13/DeMarini. Erik Kanaby racked up seven RBIs on three hits for ASP/KV Weld/BHR, in addition to hitting a homer in the first, second, and third innings. In the end, it was ASP/KV Weld/BHR who found themselves hoisting the trophy in the air after a 33-25 win over Ts 13/DeMarini.
T’s 13/DeMarini earned a spot in the Championship Game after going undefeated in play Saturday, in which they outscored their opponents 82-53.

Men’s Class D
Tournament MVP Eric Eichhorst and fellow teammates from OTW/Elite made a comeback following yesterday’s 19-11 loss to DCL to force a rematch with the Virginia team in the Championship Game Sunday. DCL defeated Triad, 15-13, while OTW/Elite posted back-to-back wins over MOJO, 12-11, and Triad, 18-3, to earn a spot in the Championship Game on OGE Energy Field.
After claiming two wins, OTW/Elite kept the momentum going into the Championship Game after jumping out to an early lead on DCL and capturing a 21-6 victory, resulting in the “if-necessary” game. With 12 runs in the first three innings, OTW/Elite left no doubt about the eventual outcome. OTW/Elite’s Ray Valencia who was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4, hitting a triple in the third inning and a single in the first, second, and fourth innings. Follow a 21-6 (four inning) win via run-rule, OTW/Elite and DCL took the field one last time to play the game that would be the deciding factor on who would be crowned National Champions.
In the Championship Game, both squads had things going at the plate, tallying 25 runs and 40 hits, including 19 extra base hits. The top of the first inning saw DCL take an early lead, 8-0. However, OTW/Elite brought home five runs during their at-bat in the first inning and proceeded to match that run total in the second. After three innings, OTW/Elite held a 13-11 lead and maintained their grip to keep DCL from scoring the next four innings which eventually helped them to secure their victory in the Men’s Class D division.

Women’s Open
Derby Girls/ASP/Combat outscored Khaos 17-3 to hand them back-to-back losses and secure the Women’s Open National title at ASA Hall of Fame Complex Sunday. Despite dropping a 15-5 decision to Khaos Saturday evening, Derby Girls/ASP/Combat defeated Smurf-U, 13-3, to earn a spot in the Championship Game and call for a rematch themselves.
While Khaos hung in the game, Derby Girls/ASP/Combat pulled away late for the 9-2 victory. Derby Girls/ASP/Combat’s Dowling was solid at the plate, going 3-for-4 while driving in one and scoring three runs. Derby Girls/ASP/Combat saw four cross the plate in the first inning and proceeded to keep Khaos scorelss until they scored two in the fourth inning. However, it was not enough and Derby Girls/ASP/Combat would force the previously-undefeated team to play an “if-necessary” game for the Championship title.
The final game of the tournament was almost déjà vu for Derby Girls/ASP/Combat. The Washington team never trailed after scoring four runs in the first on two doubles, an RBI single by Julie Wisniewski, and an RBI triple by Amanda Pantley. Derby Girls/ASP/Combat went on to score four runs in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Laura Harms, a two-run single by Bri Benesh and an RBI single by Dowling. Khaos managed to score one in the fourth but in the end, it was Derby Girls/ASP/Combat who claimed the Women’s Open division title following a 8-1 victory.
